With the development of trade, the requirements of buyers and consumers for product safety and quality continue to increase. The Malaysian government requires that if products are regularly shipped to Malaysia, suppliers must apply for product certification. In 1998, Malaysia promulgated a new Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, which provides detailed specifications for entry conditions for the telecommunications services and communications market in Malaysia.
At the same time, a new telecommunications regulatory agency, the Malaysia Communications and Multimedia Commission (CMC) was born.
According to the "Communications and Multimedia Law", when communication equipment is put on the market, it is necessary to apply to the CMC or a certification body designated by the CMC for type certification, and obtain a device certification certificate and certification mark.
Communication equipment type certification is subject to specific certification matters by the Communication Equipment Testing Section (CETS) under the jurisdiction of SIRIM.
SIRIM is the only certification management agency in Malaysia. All electronic products entering Malaysia need to apply for SIRIM certification. The applicant should in principle be a local institution in Malaysia. The application and management of SIRIM certification is the responsibility of SIRIM QAS International, which issues SIRIM certificates.
