The Moroccan National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency (ANRT) has issued a new decision (ANRT/DG/N°12/23) outlining stricter technical specifications for the type approval of terminal equipment and radio installations.
The changes include:
Expanded technical specifications: new technology standards such as 6 GHz WiFi 6E, GPON, GNSS and eSIM are introduced.
Stronger safety requirements: requirements on electromagnetic compatibility, low-voltage electrical safety and human exposure to radio frequency are stricter.
Cellular devices must support at least 4G: all user equipment with a cellular interface must now support at least 4G (LTE) technology.
5G devices must be 5G SA compatible: 5G user equipment must be compatible with 5G SA (standalone) to ensure optimal network performance.
