On 1 September 2023, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) announced a public consultation on six potential substances of very high concern (SVHCs). Among them, dibutyl phthalate (DBP) was added to the official SVHC list as early as October 2008, and this second consultation was launched to identify a new hazard type. The public consultation closes on 16 October 2023, during which all stakeholders may submit comments to ECHA. The five substances other than dibutyl phthalate (DBP) will, if they pass the consultation, be added to the official SVHC list as the 30th batch of SVHC substances.
