SIRIM Malaysia has issued notice SQASI/CMCS/1/23/0009: CoC certificates expired for more than six months will be automatically blocked or have their extension suspended.

The Malaysian regulator, the Standards and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia (SIRIM), has issued notice SQASI/CMCS/1/23/0009, under which certificates of conformity (CoC) that have been expired for more than six months will now be automatically frozen or have their extension suspended.
According to clause 4.3 of certification protocol eTAC/DOC/01-1, if a CoC has been expired for more than six (6) months, the system will automatically suspend the CoC with prior notification from SIRIM QAS International. If the certificate holder takes no action within fourteen (14) working days from the date of suspension, the CoC will be recommended to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) for cancellation without further notice to the holder.
However, affected applicants have a 30-day grace period from the date of this announcement during which they may continue to submit renewal applications. If no action is taken within these 30 days, the approved type approval application will be closed and the affected models will need a new type approval application before import.
