On 19 April 2023, in accordance with the requirements of the notice of the General Office of the National Health Commission on issuing the 2021 project plan for national food safety standards, the China National Center for Food Safety Risk Assessment published a consultation letter on the draft revision of GB 4806.1, General Safety Requirements for Food Contact Materials and Articles. The deadline for comments is 15 May 2023.
GB 4806.1, General Safety Requirements for Food Contact Materials and Articles, is a mandatory national standard that specifies the terms and definitions, basic requirements and compliance principles for all types of food contact materials and articles. The revision will have a major impact on food contact material compliance, and industry experts and stakeholders are encouraged to take an active part.Regulations on food contact materials and articles in China are as follows:
