India's TEC Issues Further Exemption for 5G Base Stations and Other Products until End of June

Key words of this article:

On 18 February 2026 India's Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC) issued a supplementary notice which, building on the exemptions of 29 December 2025, adds further relief from test report submission for three product groups under the MTCTE framework until 30 June 2026, or until a new instruction is issued.

Key points

The products and parameters covered are OTA sensitivity and radiated transmit power for 5G NR Type 1-H base stations, OTA sensitivity and radiated transmit power for hybrid active antenna systems, and all 128G FC fibre channel parameters for applicable ER products, each corresponding to the relevant 3GPP standards or ER interface specifications.

TEC makes clear that the exemption does not waive compliance. Companies must submit a self-declaration of conformity in the format of the annex, stating the equipment model, manufacturer, corresponding ER number and the compliance results of in-house testing, signed and stamped by an authorised person. The notice and the self-declaration must both be uploaded to the MTCTE portal for record, and the declared information must be true and accurate.

The notice was issued with the approval of the competent authority, copied to all relevant TEC departments and published on the official website. It further simplifies the compliance route for telecom equipment entering the Indian market.
