Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers has issued Resolution No. 976, formally amending the Plan for the Allocation and Use of the Radio Frequency Spectrum of Ukraine. The resolution clears the way for Wi-Fi 6E.
Under the resolution, one of the core measures is approval of 5945-6425 MHz, the lower part of the 6 GHz band, for low power indoor wireless access applications. The band is designated for Wi-Fi 6E technology.
This means that from 1 September 2025 individuals and businesses in Ukraine can lawfully use devices supporting Wi-Fi 6E, with faster speeds, lower latency and less congested wireless networks. The decision is intended to relieve congestion in existing Wi-Fi bands and provide more spectrum for applications such as the Internet of Things, augmented reality and virtual reality.
The opening follows the relevant decisions of the European Communications Committee, such as ECC/DEC/(20)01, and technical standards such as ETSI EN 302 687, keeping Ukraine in step with European regulation and supporting the development of domestic digital infrastructure and technological innovation.
About Wi-Fi 6E
Wi-Fi 6E is an enhanced version of Wi-Fi 6 whose defining feature is the ability to use the 6 GHz band for additional clean spectrum. Compared with the traditional 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, 6 GHz offers more channels and less interference, significantly improving wireless performance and capacity.
