Indonesia's Ministry of Industry has issued a new regulation. Under Ministry of Industry Regulation No. 75 of 2024 on the mandatory implementation of the Indonesian national standard for audio and video, the standard SNI IEC 62368-1:2014 for audio and video equipment replaces the previous regulation.
Points to note
1. The regulation makes the Indonesian national standard for audio and video products mandatory in order to protect human health and safety, preserve the environmental function of audio and video equipment, improve the competitiveness of the audio visual industry and create fair commercial competition.
2. Ministry of Industry Regulation No. 15 of 2018 on the mandatory implementation of the Indonesian national standard for audio and video and similar electronic products is no longer consistent with the current Indonesian audio visual product standards and with policy making in the field of industrial standardisation, and therefore needs to be replaced.
3. The regulation implements Article 52 paragraph (1) of Law No. 3 of 2014 on industry, as amended by Law No. 6 of 2023, and the government regulation replacing Law No. 2 of 2022 on job creation, which emphasise the need to set out the ministerial regulation on implementation of the Indonesian audio and video national standard.
