According to National Standard Announcement No. 18 of 2025, the mandatory national standard GB 26572-2025, Requirements for the Restriction of the Use of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products, was formally published on 1 August 2025 and applies from 1 August 2027, when it will fully replace the current recommended standard GB/T 26572-2011. The text of the standard will be made public within 20 working days of publication.
Why it matters
As a mandatory national standard, GB 26572-2025 replaces the 2011 recommended standard in full. By strictly limiting the use of hazardous substances it drives green upgrading of industry, protects consumer health, aligns China with international standards and supports sustainable development.
