To further improve the efficiency, traceability and reliability of conformity assessment procedures, from 1 October 2023 the Gulf Standardization Organization (GSO) made an important update to the registration system used for GCC conformity assessment activities, officially launching the G-Mark electronic certificate service. Electronic certificates use a unified certificate template, are registered by GSO notified bodies in the GCTS system and are generated automatically by the system after GSO approval.

From 30 December 2023, certificates issued by GSO notified bodies will no longer use each body's own certificate template. During the transition period before that date, both the original notified body templates and the new electronic certificate template may be used to issue certificates.
Important changes to G-Mark electronic certificates
Electronic certificates no longer require the signature of a visa officer.
Draft electronic certificates that have not been approved by GSO carry a clear "DRAFT" watermark and a red footnote: the certificate is not yet valid and may not be used as supporting documentation for customs clearance or other commercial activities.
Electronic certificates approved by GSO have the watermark removed and a black footnote: the certificate is valid and can be verified by scanning the QR code.
