Korea's National Radio Research Agency (RRA) published Notice No. 2025-41 on 5 June 2025, revising the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) test standards for certain wireless devices and updating several KS standards. The new rules affect certification of wireless communication, broadband and DECT products, and companies should adjust their test plans promptly to remain compliant.
Standards updated
| Device category | Previous standard | Updated standard | International reference |
| General wireless communication products | KS X 3124:2020 | KS X 3124:2024 | ETSI EN 301 489-1:2019 |
| Broadband wireless communication products | KS X 3126:2020 | KS X 3126:2024 | ETSI EN 301 489-17:2020 |
| DECT equipment | KS X 3128:2014 | KS X 3128:2024 | ETSI EN 301 489-6 V2.2.1 |
Key changes
1. KS X 3124:2024, general EMC standard: updated to ETSI EN 301 489-1:2019, with possible adjustments to radiated immunity and conducted emissions limits. It applies to all wireless communication devices such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and cellular modules.
2. KS X 3126:2024, broadband equipment EMC standard: updated to ETSI EN 301 489-17:2020, which may affect test methods for 5G and Wi-Fi 6 devices.
3. KS X 3128:2024, DECT equipment EMC standard: adopts the latest ETSI version V2.2.1, which may tighten harmonic current and voltage fluctuation (flicker) test requirements.
