According to the latest announcement from the Certification and Accreditation Administration of China, from 1 March 2025 certification bodies will begin accepting applications for mandatory product certification (CCC) of electric vehicle supply equipment, including but not limited to fixed charging piles, mobile charging facilities and on-board charging equipment. From 1 August 2026, EV supply equipment without a CCC certificate and certification mark may not be manufactured, sold, imported or used in other business activities. All such products must therefore undergo rigorous testing and assessment to confirm compliance with national safety standards before entering the market.

Content of the announcement

Scope of application. To further strengthen product quality and safety supervision, and in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Regulations of the People's Republic of China on Certification and Accreditation, the State Administration for Market Regulation has decided to apply mandatory product certification to electric vehicle supply equipment. The requirements are as follows.

1. From 1 March 2025 designated certification bodies will begin accepting CCC applications for electric vehicle supply equipment, with product description and definition given in the annex. The certification bodies and laboratories undertaking the certification and testing will be announced separately.

2. From 1 August 2026, EV supply equipment without a CCC certificate and certification mark may not be manufactured, sold, imported or used in other business activities.

3. Designated certification bodies shall prepare certification implementation rules based on the general CCC rules and the implementation rules for the corresponding product, and may only begin certification work after filing them with the certification supervision department of the State Administration for Market Regulation.

4. Designated certification bodies and laboratories shall, on the premise of controllable certification risk and assured certification quality, actively accept existing conformity assessment results to reduce the burden on enterprises and facilitate certification.
