On 22 April 2024 Thailand's Ministry of Industry published a new standard on safety requirements for portable sealed secondary lithium cells and batteries containing alkaline or other non-acid electrolytes, numbered TIS 62133 Part 2-2565 and closely aligned with IEC 62133-2 Edition 1.1 (2021).
The standard has been published on the TISI website and in the Royal Gazette, but questions of concern to manufacturers, such as when the standard becomes mandatory and how battery products registered under the new standard will be reflected on certificates, await further regulations from TISI.
