On 18 January 2023 the Radio Regulation Bureau (SRRC) of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People Republic of China published the Regulation on the Administration of Radio Transmission Equipment, which will take effect on 1 July 2023. The key points are summarized below:

1. The validity of a type approval certificate is not less than two years and not more than five years;

2. Where a type approval certificate needs to be extended on expiry, an application for extension must be submitted to the national radio management body 30 days before the expiry date. Each extension is valid for no more than five years;

3. The type approval code (CMIIT ID) must be marked on the radio transmission equipment or displayed in electronic form. Where marking or display is not possible because the equipment is too small, the code must be marked on the separate outer packaging or in the user instructions;

4. Micro-power short range radio transmission equipment manufactured or imported for sale and use in China must comply with the relevant provisions and technical requirements of the national radio management body, and must carry the dedicated mark for micro-power short range radio transmission equipment on the equipment and in the user instructions. The marking method and style of the dedicated mark will be specified separately.
