On 27 February 2023 the Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC) of India announced that security testing will be mandatory for Wi-Fi CPE and IP router products from 1 July 2023. The testing will be carried out together with the mandatory testing and certification of telecommunication equipment (MTCTE).
The detailed security testing requirements and test items are specified in the Indian Telecom Security Assurance Requirements (ITSARs). Note that manufacturers who have already obtained MTCTE certificates for such products, and certification projects still in progress before 1 July 2023, must add the security testing.
