On 24 February 2023 the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) announced Executive Committee Decision No. 40, amending two Saudi mandatory standards, SASO 2927:2019 and SASO 2663:2021.

SASO 2927:2019/A2:2023, Energy efficiency performance and labelling requirements for lighting products - Part 3: Street lighting, deletes the sentence requiring a colour temperature between 3000 K and 6000 K from clause 10.2 on LED requirements. The amendment takes effect immediately.

The amendment SASO 2663:2021/A1:2023, Minimum energy performance, labelling and test requirements for low capacity window and single split air conditioners, sets out technical requirements for individual energy efficiency. The main changes cover the declaration of rated cooling and heating capacity, acceptance criteria, market surveillance requirements and several other revisions. The amendment will be implemented within six months after publication in the Official Gazette.
