CQC transition requirements for GB 17625.1-2022

To ensure the effective implementation of the compulsory product certification system, the China Quality Certification Centre (CQC), in accordance with the technical resolution of the TC10 technical expert group of the Certification and Accreditation Administration on the implementation of certification to the new edition of GB 17625.1-2022, clarifies the relevant requirements as follows:

1. From the date of this notice until 30 June 2024, companies may voluntarily choose to certify to either the new or the old edition of the standard. From 1 July 2024, certification must be carried out to the new edition and certificates must be issued to the new edition; certificates to the old edition will no longer be issued.

2. For products already certified to the old edition, holders of old edition certificates should promptly submit an application to CQC for conversion to the new edition, and complete product verification and certificate re-issuance to the new edition in accordance with the relevant TC10 resolutions after the implementation date of the standard and before the end of the first follow-up inspection. Conversion of all old edition certificates must be completed by 30 June 2025 at the latest; CQC will suspend old edition certificates that are not converted in time, and will withdraw old edition certificates that have still not been converted by 30 September 2025.

3. For certified products that were manufactured and placed on the market before 1 July 2024 and are no longer produced, no certificate conversion is required.

4. The requirements in this notice on implementing the new edition of the standard for compulsory product certification of electronic products and safety accessories (08/09), lighting equipment (1001/1002) and household and similar appliances (07) do not exempt the products concerned from the obligation to comply with the Standardization Law of the People Republic of China and the Product Quality Law of the People Republic of China.
