Rapid temperature change testing is used to determine the ability of a product to withstand storage, transportation and use in climate environments with rapid high and low temperature changes. A test cycle generally consists of room temperature → low temperature → low temperature dwell → high temperature → high temperature dwell → room temperature. It verifies the changes in functional characteristics of a specimen after exposure to temperature changes or continuous temperature cycling, or its operability within such environments.
Rapid temperature change testing is usually defined as a rate of temperature change of 3℃/min or greater, cycling between specified high and low temperatures. The faster the rate of temperature change, the wider the high/low temperature range and the longer the duration, the more severe the test. Temperature shock usually affects parts near the outer surface of equipment more severely; the farther from the outer surface, the slower the temperature change and the less noticeable the effect. Transport containers and packaging also reduce the impact of temperature shock on enclosed equipment. Abrupt temperature changes may temporarily or permanently affect the operation of equipment.
Laboratory test range: minimum temperature -70℃, maximum temperature 150℃
Temperature change rates are generally 3℃/min, 4℃/min, 5℃/min, 7℃/min, 10℃/min, 15℃/min, 20℃/min and 25℃/min.
