Aluminum alloys are alloys based on aluminum with a certain amount of other alloying elements added, and belong to the light metal materials. Besides the general characteristics of aluminum, they have specific alloy properties depending on the type and amount of alloying elements. Aluminum alloys have a density of 2.63-2.85 g/cm³ and high strength (σb of 110-650 MPa); their specific strength approaches that of high-alloy steel and their specific stiffness exceeds that of steel. They offer good casting and plastic working performance, good electrical and thermal conductivity, and good corrosion resistance and weldability. They can be used as structural materials and are widely applied in aerospace, aviation, transportation, construction, electromechanical industries, light chemical industry and daily necessities.
