A single vehicle uses more than tens of thousands of passive components. As a fundamental building block of system circuits, passive components are closely tied to driving, to how functions are realised and to driving safety. The AEC-Q200 standard specifies how each type of passive component is qualified for automotive applications.
Passive components include:
Resistors: SMD resistors, film resistors, thermistors, varistors, variable resistors and others.
Capacitors: SMD capacitors, ceramic capacitors, aluminium electrolytic capacitors, film capacitors, variable capacitors and others.
Inductors: common-mode inductors, wire-wound inductors and others.
Others: oscillators and resonators, ceramic resonators, transformers, resettable fuses, filters, RCCR and others.
