The Traffic Management Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security announced that from 1 June 2020 a nationwide "one helmet, one belt" safety campaign would be carried out: from that date, riding motorcycles or electric bicycles without a safety helmet and driving without a seat belt would be strictly enforced. Correctly wearing a helmet and using a seat belt can reduce the risk of death in traffic accidents by 60% to 70%. For riders of non-motorised vehicles, a helmet is equivalent to the seat belt worn by a motor vehicle driver, and is the last line of defence in the event of danger. Helmets for electric bicycles and motorcycles require compulsory product certification, i.e. CCC certification.
