The power grid is the foundation of a country. AC power leaving a power station is a relatively standard sine wave, but after reaching homes and businesses — with many inductive loads, capacitive loads and switching devices connected — many higher harmonics and noise couple onto the grid and the waveform becomes distorted. Countries with a strong industrial base install power filters on the grid to prevent harmonics generated by harmonic sources from being injected into the grid, or to prevent grid harmonics from flowing to the load side. For countries with a weaker industrial base, the adaptability of appliances to various abnormal grid waveforms must be considered.
As more Chinese enterprises enter the global market, the first issue to solve is the global power adaptability of electronic products, i.e. compliance with the grid characteristics of the relevant countries. Many enterprises find that products working perfectly at home inexplicably develop problems abroad; in such cases the abnormal grid waveform adaptability test should be considered. If an electronic product is damaged mysteriously while operating overseas, the test can also be used to reproduce the failure and assist in localising it.
The typical grid waveform test conditions of Russia, Mexico and some South American countries are relatively severe, and ordinary test power sources cannot generate complex grid waveforms. NTEK has high-precision programmable AC power sources with high accuracy, high dynamics and high stability that can stably and accurately generate various complex waveforms, helping customers improve quality performance and open overseas markets quickly.
The scope of grid waveform adaptability testing is not limited to typical global abnormal grid waveforms. For more information on abnormal grid waveforms and grid adaptability testing, refer to the standard T/CPSS 1007-2020.
