New energy vehicle testing addresses the systems that distinguish an electric vehicle from a conventional one: the traction battery, the electric drive, the on-board charger and the charging interface. Each has its own safety and performance requirements, and each has to be verified both as a component and as part of the vehicle.
Battery testing covers electrical performance, state of charge and health estimation, cycle life, vibration, mechanical shock, crush, thermal propagation, external fire, overcharge and over-discharge, and short circuit. Drive system testing covers torque and efficiency maps, heat rejection and protection against electric shock. Charging system testing covers the interface, communication protocol, insulation monitoring and protective earth continuity.
The governing requirements are GB/T 31467 and GB 38031 in China, ISO 6469 and IEC 62660 internationally, and UN ECE Regulation 100 for vehicle type approval. NTEK provides component-level testing and supports customers preparing for whole-vehicle approval.
