Various mechanical tests determine the mechanical property criteria of metal materials. Properties shown by metals under load that relate to elasticity and inelasticity, and to stress-strain behaviour, all belong to the mechanical properties of metals. In developing new materials, improving material quality, and designing and using metal parts, mechanical properties are the most important performance indicators and an indispensable inspection item for the performance of plastically worked metal products. Mechanical tests generally include tensile, torsion, compression, impact, hardness, stress relaxation and fatigue tests. Stress relaxation and fatigue tests are not routine mechanical property inspections.
