Basic introduction
Italy DM 21373 The Italian statute applicable to materials in contact with food is the Italian Decree No. 777 of 1982. This Decree covers the Ministerial Decree DM 21373 and subsequent updates as a legal requirement for food contact materials.
Italian food grade requirements for plastic materials are in line with the requirements of EU Directive 2002/72 / EC. In addition, the decree has some national requirements, such as: rubber, silicone, glass and stainless steel are outside the scope of the EU decree, while the Italian decree specifies specific requirements.
Italy develops an approved list of stainless steel materials: Only the listed stainless steel materials are used for food contact purposes, and the material must meet purity standards and pass food contact testing to meet the requirements listed in DM 21373.
