A CPC is a Children's Product Certificate. It applies to children's products for children under 12 years of age, such as toys, cradles, hip seats and children's clothing. If produced in the US, the manufacturer is responsible for providing the certificate; if produced in other countries, the importer is responsible. A CPC is essentially a form of self-declaration showing product information and the test standards and items applied.
Amazon US requires all children's toys and children's products to provide a Children's Product Certificate (CPC). A CPC is similar to a COC certificate: when listing children-related product categories on Amazon US, including toys and infant products, a CPC certificate is required, otherwise the products may not be sold. Although called a "certificate", a CPC is not issued by any official body and need not be filed with government departments; in substance it is a "guarantee" drafted and fully warranted by the manufacturer or importer, declaring that the product complies with all applicable US children's product safety regulations and other laws.
When listing certain product categories such as children's toys and infant products, the Amazon platform requires sellers to upload a CPC as well; children's products without a CPC may not be sold online. Currently, children's toys and maternal and infant products exported to the US all require a CPC certificate and CPSIA report for customs clearance. Overseas online retailers such as Amazon, eBay and AliExpress also require Chinese-made children's products, toys and maternal and infant products to obtain a CPC children's product safety certificate.
