China RoHS refers to the nationally promoted voluntary certification for pollution control of electronic information products. The Measures for the Administration of the Control of Pollution by Electronic Information Products (the Measures) was formally promulgated on 28 February 2006 and took effect on 1 March 2007. The Measures established catalogue-based management for the control of six toxic and hazardous substances in electronic information products, namely lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBBs) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), gradually advancing the prohibition or restriction of their use. To support effective implementation, the Implementation Opinions and Implementation Rules for the Nationally Unified Voluntary Certification of Pollution Control of Electronic Information Products were issued in succession, specifying certification standards and technical specifications.
