VCCI is Japan's electromagnetic compatibility certification mark, administered by the Voluntary Control Council for Interference by Information Technology Equipment. VCCI certification is voluntary, but information technology products sold in Japan are generally required to obtain it. Manufacturers must first apply to become VCCI members before they may use the VCCI mark. To obtain VCCI recognition, the EMI test report provided must be issued by a test facility registered and recognised by VCCI. Japan currently has no immunity standard.
Why VCCI certification matters
Although VCCI certification is voluntary, it is adopted by many companies to demonstrate product quality. So VCCI certification is only nominally voluntary; market pressure makes it effectively mandatory.
